Our Trip to the CarolinasOur trip to the Carolinas posed the all-consuming question, “how many Cracker Barrels can one band visit, and how can we visit one more than that?” We created our own swath of destruction throughout the American Southeast that would make even Sherman blush as we pillaged countless biscuits, oversized checker boards, and random pieces of NASCAR memorabilia. All in a day’s work for The Good Luck Joes. Anyway, we made it to Charlotte and played a great show to an intimate crowd at Amos’ Southend, then made our way to South Carolina’s infamous Myrtle Beach. In one of the nation’s largest tourist traps, I couldn’t help but feel as though I was on Junior year Spring Break or something like that. Fat Tuesday’s, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood…and the list goes on. Luckily Joe, Peter, Andy and I got a chance to hit up the beach with Matt O’Connor and Steve Kelly from ABC before we hit the stage at the Hard Rock Cafe. The waves were righteous and Andy got to work on his tan so everyone went home happy. We played a great set which was followed by the most energized and free-spirited ABC set we had wittnessed. Once some of the audience members convinced us to dance, the party really got started and continued onto ABC’s tour bus. We spent the rest of the night chatting with the guys and sharing great stories about the music business. It was a real treat for all of us, and a great way to wrap up this long month of touring.
